The western end, from Narathiwas to Charoen Krung Road, is currently quieter, but the development of Charoen Krung Road as a fashionable creative district suggests that the rest of the neighborhood will follow suit.

One of the area’s main attractions is Lumphini Park, Bangkok’s first public park and one of the largest. Spanning 57.6 hectares, it offers walking paths, lakes, playgrounds, and even an old-school outdoor lifting gym. Silom Road begins at the corner of Lumphini Park, making it easily accessible to most residents of Silom.

Major Developments in Silom

Just opposite of Lumphini Park and to the north-east of Sathorn Road, one of Thailand’s largest conglomerates TCC with its subsidiary Frasers Property is developing One Bangkok, an integrated new neighborhood at a total cost estimated to be around 4 billion USD, to be completed in 2026.

Another mixed-use developments, Dusit Central Park, is driving the growth of the surrounding area in immediate proximity to Lumphini Park and the public transportation stations. The project, situated on the former Dusit Thani hotel plot in Silom, will feature a hotel, condominiums, retail spaces, and offices, elevating the allure of the entire neighborhood.

Food and Shopping Destination

Silom is a culinary melting pot, boasting a wide variety of Thai, Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Middle Eastern eateries. Soi Convent is a bustling street filled with street food carts, high-end international cuisine, and bars. Soi Thaniya is known for its authentic Japanese restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Silom Soi 20 is a local favorite for street food delights.

The area is also home to prominent shopping centers like Central Silom Complex and the newly opened Samyan Mitrtown. International hospitals such as BNH Hospital, Bangkok Christian Hospital, and Pulse Clinic provide quality healthcare, while top international schools like St. Joseph Convent School and New Sathorn International School cater to families with children.

Highlights of Silom’s Real Estate Market

Silom’s real estate market is highly regarded due to its historical significance, central location, connectivity, commercial and retail spaces, developed amenities, and proximity to Lumphini Park. New property launches in the Silom area typically fall within the 200,000-300,000 THB / sqm range, with notable projects located between Silom and Sathorn Roads, around BTS Chong Nonsi.

Proximity to Bangkok’s Green Lung Lumphini Park

Lumphini Park remains a significant draw for residential buyers and tenants in the area, with ongoing renovations and expansion programs in place. The government has allocated substantial funds for a comprehensive renovation scheduled to be completed before the park’s 100th anniversary in 2025. Additionally, a 260-million THB project aims to transform an old 1.3 km overpass from Lumphini to Benjakitti Park into a landmark “green bridge” for pedestrians and cyclists, set to be completed by September 2022. Benjakitti Park itself is undergoing a massive expansion.
